Document shredding helps reduce the risk of identity theft and fraud, and diverts recyclable material away from the landfill. Residents looking to shred sensitive documents and confidential files are encouraged to utilize the various shredding opportunities in the community. A few options for shredding are listed below:
  • Check our Calendar of Events frequently, as we list upcoming document shredding events on this page when we hear about them taking place in the local and surrounding communities.  Also, get connected on our Facebook page, where we also post document shredding events.

  • Support our local Certified Green Business! One Thousand Oaks Certified Green Business offers shredding services. Paperless Solutions is a local company specializing in document scanning, archiving, on-line storage and shredding, serving the Conejo Valley since 2003. They also do simple shredding services for a nominal fee with Groupon offers.
  • Document shredding fundraisers regularly occur at Thousand Oaks High School. You can check the Thousand Oaks High School PTSA website for updates on their events.
  • Some banks, credit unions and office supply stores offer limited free document shredding to their customers.
  • Most postal service outlets, (such as PostNet and UPS Stores) offer confidential document shredding for a fee.

Since there are now multiple opportunities for shredding locally, the City no longer provides this service. When we learn of local shredding events such as those held at TOHS, we will post them to our Calendar of Events page.
