Project Description:

The proposed improvements include installing approximately 800 feet of sidewalk on both sides of Los Feliz Drive, between Conejo School Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard. The project also includes concrete curb and gutter, driveway reconstruction and replacing 1550 feet of water main. There is a need to acquire temporary and permanent easements to implement the project.

The City was awarded an Active Transportation Program (ATP) Grant in the amount of $898,000 for the construction phase of the project in February 2019. 

Project timeframe:

Construction work is anticipated to start Summer 2021 through Fall 2022.

Project Funding:

This project is funded by the City’s Developer Fee’s, Water Capital Fund and State Active Transportation Grant (ATP).

Project Benefits:

The completion of the missing sidewalk segments will provide continuous and safe access for pedestrians along Los Feliz Drive from Conejo School Road to Thousand Oaks Boulevard. The proposed water improvements will provide reliable water services to residents on Los Feliz Drive.  To provide safe passage for fire trucks, a few parking spaces may need to be eliminated where there is a constraint of available right of way.

Project maps and impacts:

During construction, there will be traffic control and lane closures along Los Feliz Drive, extending to Conejo School Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard.  If needed, “No Parking” signs will be posted 48-hours in advance. During the duration of the improvements, work hours (7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday), sidewalk and walking path within the construction zone will be closed periodically for public safety. Some residents may also experience driveway closures as well as construction noise.
