Solar Carport at Municipal Service Center (CI 5265)
Project Description:
This project will consist of design and construction of a new solar carport structures to cover the bus and Dial-A-Ride parking areas at the City’s Municipal Service Center (MSC).
These carports will provide energy approximately equal to the electricity used by the MSC.
The City of Thousand Oaks Municipal Service Center (MSC) located at 1993 Rancho Conejo Blvd. in Newbury Park, provides services in connection with operation and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure and certain facilities.
Project Timeframe:
Construction will begin November 2021 and will be completed in June 2022.
The total estimated project cost is $1,460,000 and is funded primarily with transit and transportation grants ($1,000,000). The balance will come from the project’s $900,000 funding from Adopted FY 19-20 and FY 20-21 Capital Fund Budget.
Project Benefit:
One key goal in the Energy Section of the City’s Sustainability Plan for Municipal Operation is “Distributed Energy Resources: Increase clean, local and resilient energy supply”, which includes developing onsite solar generation at City sites.
This project will be designed to offset power consumption at the MSC and the CNG fueling station, and existing electric vehicle charging stations, and the panels would generate about 625,000 kWh per year.
