The City  is responsible for maintaining approximately 380 miles of streets, one of our largest infrastructure assets.  Every year a variety of street capital improvement projects are undertaken. In addition, the City maintains storm drains, water and wastewater pipelines, landscape medians and the Hill Canyon Wastewater Treatment Plant. 

All projects are prioritized in conformance with the City's General Plan, Federal/State mandates and local community standards. Construction projects that impact the community are posted on the City website and are routinely included in City Scene, the City's monthly newsletter. Those projects expected to impact the community are posted and updated on a regular basis. Below is a current list of City projects. 

Calleguas- Las Virgenes Interconnection

Calleguas will construct a new Pump Station/Pressure Reducing Station (PS/PRS) located along Lindero Canyon Rd. just north of the Ventura County / Los Angeles County line, as well as the North Interconnection Pipeline segment along Lindero Canyon Rd. between the PS/PRS and Kanan Rd. 

Citywide Street Overlay and Resurfacing Program

The City is responsible for maintaining approximately 380 miles of streets, one of our largest infrastructure assets. Performing regular maintenance is critical to maintaining high performing roadways for our residents and businesses. 

Conejo Canyon Bridge

The project includes construction of a steel bridge across the Arroyo Conejo Creek southwest of Hill Canyon Road in the Conejo Canyons Open Space area (COSCA). 

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station Project 

This project installs four EV charging stations at the Grant Brimhall Library and three EV charging stations at the Newbury Park Library. 

Emergency Water Interconnects

This project will provide for interconnection of the City’s and CalAm’s water systems at two different locations within the City.

Flashing Yellow Arrow Traffic Signals Project

The City is in the process of installing Flashing Yellow Arrow Traffic Signals at multiple intersections to improve traffic flow.

Groundwater Recovery Project 

The City is studying the feasibility of Groundwater within the Conejo Valley as an alternative to imported water for irrigation and potable use.

Guard Rail Repairs Project

The City’s Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) has identified 9 locations for guardrail replacement based on existing condition of the guardrails, number of collisions, high speeds and horizontal and/or vertical curves.

Hillcrest Drive Bike Lane and Pedestrian Improvements (CI 5682)

Conversion of one travel lane in each direction to install Class IV bike lane from Moorpark Road to Lynn Road on both sides of the roadway, and install incomplete sidewalk on the north side of Hillcrest Drive from McCloud Avenue to Lynn Road. 

Janss Road Underground Project 

As part of the Utility Undergrounding Master Plan, the utilities above-ground on Janss Road will be placed underground. 

La Granada

Lawrence Dr. and Teller Rd. Intersection Improvements

As part of the City’s signal prioritization plan, and in support of the rapidly growing Rancho Conejo area, the City will be improving the intersection of Lawrence and Teller to feature a new traffic signal. 

Los Feliz Sidewalk Project Phase II

The proposed improvements include installing approximately 800 feet of sidewalk on both sides of Los Feliz Drive, between Conejo School Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard. The project also includes concrete curb and gutter, driveway reconstruction and replacing 1550 feet of water main. 

Lynn Road Bike Lane and Pedestrian Improvements (CI 5660)

Conversion of Class II bike lanes to install Class IV separated bike lanes from Reino Road to Gainsborough Road and reconstruction of Lynn Road/US 101 bridge barriers and fencing. 

Meadows Reservoir Emergency Repairs

Emergency work to repair unexpected failure. 

Pressure Reducing Station Project

This project includes installation of water pressure reducing facilities at two locations.

Rancho Road Sidewalk and Bike Lanes Project

The City will be installing a sidewalk, curb ramps and re-striping bike lanes along Rancho Road. A traffic signal will also be installed at the 101 Freeway northbound on/off ramps to improve vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle safety.

 Rancho Conejo Biotech Area Sidewalks

Construction of incomplete sidewalks on four streets within Rancho Conejo Biotech area and install crosswalk across Rancho Conejo Blvd. at Corporate Center Dr.

SCADA Upgrades/Replacements

New SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software, replacement of servers, work stations, and associated network equipment at the MSC; control system overhaul at remote sites; new HMIs and necessary instrumentation for improved monitoring and control. 

Solar Carport at Municipal Service Center

This project will consist of design and construction of a new solar carport structures to cover the bus and Dial-A-Ride parking areas at the City’s Municipal Service Center (MSC).

SR-23 Rehabilitation Project

A Caltrans project, the SR-23 Rehabilitation Project will replace pavement on the outer two lanes from U.S. 101 to State Route 118. The on- and off-ramps, connectors and adjacent shoulders also will be rehabilitated, and slabs will be replaced on the inner lane in both directions where needed. Existing curbs ramps will be upgraded where necessary to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and approach slabs and bridge rails will be replaced at select locations.

Traffic Signal Rehabilitation- Phase II 

The work includes surface preparation and painting of all traffic signal poles, street light poles, mast arms, signal heads, luminaire arms, safety lighting housings, ped button housings, back plates and cabinets at 17 street intersections (see Vicinity Map and link to Location Maps below). 

Unit-W

The Public Works Department seeks to rehabilitate various wastewater lines and maintenance holes throughout the City with a non-invasive lining product. 

Valve and Polybutylene Service Replacements

The work includes complete replacement of existing valves, saddles, water meters boxes, polybutylene water services with copper tubing and installation of cathodic protections, replacement of ¾” copper service line, traffic control, and all appurtenant work to complete the project.
