Children

Storytime

Join the Thousand Oaks Library online for Virtual Storytime from April 14, 2021 to May 26, 2021. Storytime videos are available to watch on the library's website or Facebook page on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Bilingual Storytime

Join the Thousand Oaks Library online for Virtual Bilingual Storytime on April 29, 2021. Bilingual Storytime videos are available to watch on the library's website or Facebook page on the last Thursday of the month at 10:30 a.m.

Homework Center

Get homework help from Thousand Oaks Library volunteers via Zoom! A parent or guardian must sit in on the Zoom session. Homework help is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Not affiliated with Conejo Valley Unified School District. Registration required.

Take & Make: Book Pages

Register for a free Book Pages kit between April 1 - 20, 2021 and pick up before the end of the month. Participants will receive a confirmation email when their kit is ready for Curbside Pick Up. For ages 5+. Adults are welcome to participate. One kit per library card. While supplies last.

Día Day

El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día, is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Explore themed booklists on the library’s website and receive a special bookmark when picking up materials from Curbside. While supplies last.

Teens & Tweens 

Anime Your Way Drawing Class

Learn to draw Anime, Manga, Comic style from a local artist and make your own drawings and characters. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration required.

Learn to Podcast: Discover Your Voice

Ask a professional podcaster your questions & get tips about starting your own podcast. Ken Napzok is a broadcaster, author, and comedian who has been professionally podcasting since 2013 with shows like The Napzok Files, ForceCenter, Casterly Talk and more. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration required.

Chemistry and Physics Tutoring for High Schoolers

Volunteer tutors are available to assist high school students with chemistry and physics. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Registration required.

Algebra, Geometry, and Chemistry Tutoring for High Schoolers

Volunteer tutors are available to assist high school students with algebra, geometry, and chemistry. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Registration required.

Blackout Poetry and Art Virtual Bulletin Board

Upcycle discarded book pages to create your very own blackout poetry and art. All 6-12 graders can share their creations and submit their posts for a chance to be featured on our Virtual Bulletin Board. Pick up discarded book pages from our April Take and Make program while supplies last.

Virtual Teen Space

Check back every month for creative writing prompts, college prep resources, and book and movie recommendations from the Thousand Oaks Teen Advisory League.

Adults 

ESL Conversation Group

This program is open to all non-native English language speakers who are interested in developing their speaking fluency. Participants of varying levels of English proficiency are welcome. Registration required. The program will be hosted via Zoom on the first Tuesday of the month on April 6, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

eBooks & More

Learn how to download and stream free eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, eNewspapers, eMusic and Streaming Video through the library’s website. Bring your own mobile device, the email address and password that you use to download apps, along with your library card and PIN number. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Open Mic Poetry

Join us for a joint program between the Thousand Oaks Library and The Ventura County Poetry Project as we present Open Mic Poetry Nights. Come listen to local poets and share your own work every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Every fourth Wednesday will include a reading from a guest reader. Open Mic will be hosted via Zoom on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 and April 28, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Thousand Oaks Library Film Club - Metropolis

Based on the same format as a book club, this once-a-month film club is a place for film lovers to meet and talk about a movie they have watched in the last month. Movies are selected from the digital collection available on Kanopy and can be watched there before each meeting. Librarians will lead a discussion on each film and participants are invited to bring everything they liked, disliked, and any other thoughts. Participants must be 17 or older. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Spanish Language Conversation Hour

This is an informal setting to practice your Spanish and meet other Spanish language learners.

The program will be hosted via Zoom on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Google Sheets

Create powerful spreadsheets that you can edit from anywhere, or open and edit existing Excel spreadsheets. Save your sheets in Google Drive, and access them anywhere. All for free. Prerequisites: You must have a Google Gmail account prior to class and be familiar with using keyboard and mouse. Suggested: complete the Google Drive class. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

B.Y.O. Book Club

In a new take on book clubs, the Thousand Oaks Library invites readers to bring their current or recent read to discuss with others. A perfect way to find new book recommendations!  Whether it be a mystery, biography, graphic novel, fantasy, romance, thriller, history, or science fiction, all genres are welcome at the Bring Your Own Book Club. Registration required. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Search Beyond the Shelves - Browsing for Beginners

This class brings the fun and serendipity of browsing to the online environment. We will learn to use NoveList, Encore, etc. to find books in the online catalog. The program will be hosted via Zoom on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
