Thousand Oaks Offers Virtual Public Comment Options

The City of Thousand Oaks has implemented the latest technology to create a comprehensive virtual public meeting experience for our residents. While current Ventura County health guidelines restrict in-person participation, there are new options for those interested in making public comments.

Currently, only essential meetings are being held, which includes City Council and Planning Commission. Participants can choose to make their comments during their desired public meeting via video on Zoom, or by phone. Public comment forms can be filled out online at www.toaks.org/agendas-minutes from within the Planning Commission or City Council agenda.

On these innovative changes in process, City Manager Drew Powers said “These are unprecedented times and they call for rethinking methods for public participation. It has created an opportunity to adapt and utilize new options for citizen engagement that make the government process even more accessible. It is our duty to ensure that the public be heard and seen by Council, and our team has pulled together to make that happen in a relatively seamless manner.”

The virtual public comment options are available for the April 20th Planning Commission and the April 21st City Council meeting. Public meetings are broadcast live on Channel 10 as well as the City’s YouTube page, www.youtube.com/cityofthousandoaks.
