Children

STEAM: Mini-Marshmallow Launchers*

Create a marshmallow launcher from a paper cup and balloon on January 7, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Grant R. Brimhall Library and January 15, 2020 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Newbury Park Library.

STEAM: 3D Printed Nametags*

Learn how to make a 3D printed nametag on January 22, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Grant R. Brimhall Library Technology Training Room. Space is limited. Registration in required. This program is intended for Grades 3-5 only. To register, please call (805) 449-2660 x7. Please note that participants spots may be given away if more than 5 minutes late.

Stuffed Animal Storytime & Sleepover

Join us for a fun winter storytime and craft activity with your furry friend on January 29, 2020 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Grant R. Brimhall Library. Tuck your stuffed animal in at the Library and follow their overnight adventure via Facebook! Pick up your stuffed animal the next morning at the Children’s Library Help Desk. Program is intended for ages: 3-5 years. Special thanks to the LeDuc-Gummeson Foundation for their generosity and sponsorship of this program. 

Teens

Virtual Reality & Video Games*

Play video games and try virtual reality at the library on January 9, 2020 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Newbury Park Library.

Origami Club for Teens

Learn how to fold different things through origami — the art of paper folding.

Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Grant R. Brimhall Library and Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Newbury Park Library.

Adults

Introduction to Yoga*

This six-week class is designed as an introduction to some of the less strenuous forms of yoga. Styles will include Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Beginning Yoga. Participants must be able to get up and down from the floor unassisted; please bring a yoga mat. Props (strap/block) will help you facilitate poses but are not required. Thursdays from January 23rd through February 27th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Grant R. Brimhall Library Community Room. 

ESL Conversation Group

Practice speaking English with other adults and meet new people in an informal & friendly group setting. Laubach Literacy trained staff and ESL trained volunteers provide tutoring to adults seeking to learn English. Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Grant R. Brimhall Library Conference Room.

Dungeons & Dragons*   

Adventurers old and new take part in the classic role-playing game. Sign up is required to play. Register at Information Desk or call (805) 449-2660, option #5. Grouped by age 10 to 14 and 15+. The game will take place on January 4, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Grant R. Brimhall Library Community Room and January 25, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Newbury Park Library Meeting Room.

Open Mic Poetry Night

Join a diverse local poetry community to read, listen, encourage, and inspire with Off Main: Ventura County Poetry Project and host Ken Jones. Program will be on January 8, 2020

6:00-8:00 p.m. at Newbury Park Library and January 22, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Grant R. Brimhall Library with featured reader, Ricardo Means Ybarra.

Adult Coloring*

Bring your friends or make some new ones while spending a relaxing afternoon coloring on January 10, 2020 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Grant R. Brimhall Library. Bring your own coloring book or use one of our coloring sheets. Colored pencils and markers will be provided.

Adult Crafternoon: Weaving on a Recycled CD*

Create beautiful weavings on recycled CDs. Hang them alone or several together in quilt-style. Program will be on January 24, 2020 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Newbury Park Library.
