March Events for Adults at the Thousand Oaks Library

Yoga for Beginners and Boomers

Join us for a safety-conscious, lighthearted yoga class which will help you improve balance and create space in both mind and body. All levels welcome. Please bring a mat or a towel. Participants should be able to get off the floor unassisted. Class takes place Mondays beginning March 4, 2019 to April 15, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Thousand Oaks Library Community Room.

Adult Coloring

Relax with friends and other coloring enthusiasts the second Friday of each month. March 8, 2019 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Thousand Oaks Library Community Room. Materials provided.

Ventura County Master Gardeners: Garden Design 101 for A Water Wise Garden

Ventura County Master Gardeners share their expertise about a variety of gardening topics, March 11, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Thousand Oaks Library Community Room.

Open Mic Poetry Night

Join a diverse local poetry community to read, listen, encourage, and inspire. In partnership with the Ventura County Art Council and host Ken Jones, event is March 13, 2019 (second Wednesday of each month) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Newbury Park Meeting Room.

CSUCI Lecture Series: Channel Islands Orchestral Suite

Channel Islands Orchestral Suite was commissioned by Dr. KuanFen Liu (D.M.A, Assistant Professor of Performing Arts) and the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra in 2017.  It is set to premier in fall 2019. This lecture will introduce to the public this new work through the eyes of the composer, performers and advocates. The lecture takes place on March 14, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Thousand Oaks Library Community Room.

Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia

A workshop for those who would like to know more about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Presented by Teresa Valko of the Alzheimer’s Association, the workshop takes place March 18, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Thousand Oaks Library Community Room.

Crafternoon: Abstract Book Folding  

Join other crafters every fourth Friday to learn and complete a new craft idea. Materials provided. This month’s crafternoon takes place on March 22, 2019 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Newbury Park Meeting Room.

Open Mic Poetry Night

The featured reader for March 27, 2019 (fourth Wednesday of each month) is Claudia Reder from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Thousand Oaks Library Community Room.

Financial Literacy: ID Theft

Identity theft is becoming more common and sophisticated. Learn the methods that identity thieves use to access confidential information, tools for preventing identity theft, and steps to take if identity theft occurs. Presented by the Ventura County Credit Union on March 28, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Thousand Oaks Library Community Room.

Monday Movie Matinee

The Grant R. Brimhall Library will have a free screening of “First Man” (PG-13, 2018, 142 min.) on March 11, 2019 and “Operation Finale” (PG-13, 2018, 127 min.) on March 25, 2019. Screenings take place in the Grant R. Brimhall Library Community Room at 1:00 p.m. 

Tuesday Movie Night

The Newbury Park Library will have a free screening of “Hidden Figures” (PG, 2016, 127 min)

on March 5, 2019, “Interstellar” (PG-13, 2014, 169 min) on March 12, 2019, “Gravity” (PG-13 2013, 91 min) on March 19, 2019 and “First Man” (PG-13, 2018, 142 min) on March 26, 2019. Screenings take place in the Newbury Park Meeting Room at 6:30 p.m.
