Thousand Oaks Reads: One City One Book February Adult Events

Scholars discuss the historical context and the science behind the daring odyssey of Apollo 8 around the moon and back. Panelists include President of California Lutheran University Dr. Chris Kimball (History), Professor Mary Oksala (Physics), and Michael H. Gorn, a historian of aeronautics and author of “Spacecraft: 100 Iconic Rockets, Shuttles, and Satellites That Put Us in Space”. The event will be held on February 5, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at California Lutheran University Lundring Events Center.
From the Earth to the Moon
This award winning 12-part HBO miniseries tells the story of the landmark Apollo expeditions to the Moon during the 1960s and early 1970s in docudrama format. Each standalone episode, directed by different individuals, uses a variety of viewpoints and themes and covers the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs. The miniseries was co-produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Tom Hanks, and Michael Bostick. Each screening date will include two parts. Screening will take place on February 3, 17, 24 and March 17, 24, 31 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Grant R. Brimhall Library Community Room
