Astronomy for Everyone: Size and Scale of the Universe

The Grant R. Brimhall Library is excited to host a variety of space-related programs for Thousand Oaks Reads: One City One Book.

Astronomer Kevin Manning will present an inspiring and uplifting presentation that will give a deeper understanding of the workings of the universe. As the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing approaches, it’s a perfect time for this family friendly presentation.  The presentation includes an opportunity to view the rings of Saturn and craters of the Moon through a hand-crafted telescope, weather permitting.

Kevin Manning worked as a consultant with NASA, the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. A gifted astronomer, he has been both a Wright and Einstein Fellow. He has presented many workshops, including at Tufts University, and for the National Parks Service.

Enjoy a virtual journey into the cosmos at the Grant R. Brimhall Library on Tuesday, November 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room. This program is recommended for adults and children ages 8 and up.
