City of Thousand Oaks Summer Beach Bus Service Returns For 2021 Begins June 2021

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., June 2, 2021 -- The City of Thousand Oaks will once again offer the Summer Beach Bus; a regular scheduled public transit service traveling between Thousand Oaks and Zuma Beach in Malibu. This will be the 8th year the service is being offered by Thousand Oaks Transit (TOT) after service was suspended due to the pandemic last year. The service runs Monday through Friday from June 21 through August 6. This year’s program will be operated on a motorcoach bus operated by Pegasus Transit, Inc.

Two round trips will be available daily Monday through Friday. Fare is $8.00 roundtrip ($4.00 for seniors aged 65 and older, and disabled riders). A roundtrip purchase is required. The Beach Bus departs from two convenient locations -- Borchard Community Center Parking Lot and the Thousand Oaks Teen Center Bus Stop. The Beach Bus drops off and picks up at Zuma Beach parking lot #5 near the snack shack.

New for this year, due to very limited seating capacity, tickets will be available for advanced purchase at and at the Civic Arts Plaza Box Office (once box office reopens for in-person ticket sales). Riders will be able to select and pay for their outbound bus trip and return trip and print their tickets which will be scanned prior to boarding. Advanced ticket sales will be available for a particular day, seven days in advance to 5:00 p.m. the evening before.

Any seats not sold by 5:00 p.m. the day before will be sold on a standby basis, day of departure, but are only available at the Teen Center boarding location and subject to availability. Advanced ticket holders will need to arrive and check in a minimum of 10 minutes before scheduled departure times or their seats may be released for standby riders. Tickets are good only for the date and times reserved and are non-refundable/exchangeable.

In keeping with current federal mandates for public transportation services, mask use is required while on board the bus and while waiting in line to board and will be strictly enforced. As a result, eating and drinking on board the bus will be prohibited this year.

For exact departure times please refer to the timetable posted at each stop or for more information about the Summer Beach Bus, visit the Thousand Oaks Transit website at
