The Thousand Oaks community is a very culturally oriented one, with emphasis on both the visual arts and theatrical arts. The City itself houses its own fine art collection and encourages the arts through the Community and Cultural Services Department Arts Services division. Arts Services includes the Thousand Oaks Arts Commission, Fred Kavli Theatre Visual Arts, Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, Annual Art and Photography Show, Open Studio Tour, and programs such as the Healing Power of Music, Excellence in the Arts, Percent for the Arts, Shakespeare Educational Tour, and Youth Video Festival.
