The Richard Carpenter Scholarship Contest - If you enjoy American Idol, you’ll love this talent competition awards show spotlighting talented middle school, high school and college student performers from our local communities. The annual Richard Carpenter Scholarship Competition features the area’s best performers in dance, vocal and instrumental categories. All finalists that appear in the competition awards show will receive cash scholarships to assist them in their performing arts endeavors. Help support the arts and your local talented students by attending this outstanding event. Angels Luncheon
The Angels of the Alliance present a luncheon each year which is enjoyed by over 500 guests. The luncheon features shopping at over 50 boutiques, a delectable lunch and of course, the table decorating contests, which highlight the event. Independent professional judges bestow awards in several decor categories. Proceeds from the event support the Alliance for the Arts children and youth programming efforts. The 12th Annual 2008 Alliance Shoot-out for the Arts Golf Tournament takes place at the prestigious Sherwood Country Club. This dramatic Jack Nicklaus-designed “Signature” golf course was built on the site used for the original Robin Hood movie, home of the Sherwood Forest, and features a spectacular setting amidst huge 100 year-old oak trees. Golfers meet for a networking breakfast, pre-tournament contests, 18 holes of golf on the Sherwood Country, BBQ lunch, followed by an awards buffet dinner and live auction. SEPTEMBER 3, 2008
Season Premiere Gala and AFTA AwardsThis gala affair provides an opportunity for the Alliance to celebrate artistic and philanthropic leadership through the presentation of the Alliance for the Arts (AFTA) Awards. It is also the time when we announce and celebrate the new season of performances held in the Countrywide Performing Arts Center.
This year the Alliance for the Arts and the Centennial Guild of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles have been chosen to be the recipients of proceeds for the 2008 Nordstrom Pre-Opening Gala on September 3, 2008.

SEPTEMBER 20, 2008
The Annual
Kids and the Arts Fun Run will be held in conjunction with the Thousand Oaks Arts Festival. Proceeds from this event support the Alliance for the Arts Kids and the Arts School Outreach program. The 5K, 10K, and 1 mile Family Run/Walk begin at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks, 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., and the award Ceremony is there as well. OCTOBER 16, 2008
Annual Membership Meeting is held each year for members in good standing. The meeting takes place in the Verizon Founders Room and features a complimentary buffet dinner, the annual state of address from the Chairman of the Board and Executive Director and entertainment. Election of new board members and recognition of outgoing board members takes place too at this special meeting for members of the Alliance. Please call (805) 449-2590 for more information.
