Senior of the Year Awards Ceremony and Social
Thousand Oaks is fortunate to have 1,200 senior adult volunteers who contribute their time and energy to aid over 80 non-profit agencies, schools and community organizations. Each year, senior adults donate approximately 275,000 volunteer hours, providing much needed support to the Thousand Oaks community.
Each year, the City of Thousand Oaks Council on Aging (COA) dedicates an event to honor senior volunteers through the annual Senior of the Year Awards Ceremony and Social. The COA accepts nominations for “Senior of the Year” from January through March.
Nominees must be over 55 years of age and have been a resident in Thousand Oaks for three of the past five years. All volunteer contributions over a senior's lifetime, as noted on the Nomination Form, will be considered. Please note that nominees must have volunteered in some capacity during three of the past five years in the City of Thousand Oaks or in the unincorporated areas of the City (this includes Newbury Park and the Ventura portion of Westlake Village). The selected Senior of the Year will agree to serve as a spokesperson for volunteerism.
