| | Community Cleanup and Recycling DayCommunity Clean-Up & Recycling Day Notification The City of Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Park and Recreation District have worked together for many years to provide Community Cleanup Day at Community Creek Park, South. Over the last few years, the park has become increasingly popular for soccer and baseball tournaments and the Community Cleanup Day event has grown as well, with over 2,000 vehicles bringing materials for disposal. Because of the limited access roads, tournament traffic and traffic for Cleanup day are forced to share the same access roads. This has resulted in potentially dangerous traffic situations for our staff and the public with tournament traffic and cleanup day traffic competing to get access to their events. For the safety of the public and our staff the City offered an alternative solution. Free vouchers were available to City residents entitling them to directly dispose of unwanted materials at the Simi Valley Landfill between May 4th and May 18th.
Additionally, the City, in partnership with Waste Management, offers residents a free landfill and recycling day in September.
