“Continue commitment to being an environmental leader on topics such as climate change adaptation and reduction, zero waste, zero net energy, water use, and greenhouse gas reduction and develop a Climate Action Plan, including allocation of necessary resources.”

- Adopted by City Council on April 14, 2015

To meet the challenge set forth by City Council after the “Thousand Oaks 2064” Community Visioning Process, the City created the Sustainability Division, also known as the “GoGreen” Team, within the Public Works Department. We have initiated extensive environmental programs and built new green facilities. We have also won numerous awards for environmental leadership .

We recognize that we still have a long way to go to meet the Council and Community’s vision and address the increasingly urgent problem of climate change. Our division will soon undertake a greening effort for all City facilities and then begin preparing the City's first ever Climate Action Plan.

And don't forget to join us for our 20th Anniversary Arbor/Earth Day celebration in April 2017!
