New Businesses in Town

Marty’s Hobbies relocated their operations to a new location at 270 Conejo Ridge Avenue.

Tuesday Morning, a discount home furnishings, small appliances and gifts store opened at the Conejo Valley Plaza, located at 1350 N. Moorpark Road.

Ventura County Unemployment

The California Labor Market report revealed that Ventura County’s January 2018 unemployment rate of 4.3 percent was up from a revised 4.0 percent in December 2017. 

A total of 200 non-farm jobs were added in January 2018, however; 5,200 jobs were lost, for a net loss of 5,000 jobs. The decline of jobs is mainly attributed to seasonal workforce and a good part of the loss is caused by the Thomas Fire. 

The loss in jobs includes 2,100 in trade, transportation and utilities, 1,000 in educational and health services, 500 in professional and business services, 500 in government, 400 in leisure and hospitality, 400 in construction, 200 in information, and 100 in other services.  The gain in jobs includes 100 in manufacturing and 100 in financial activities.
